The Commonwealth Clydesdale Horse Society Qld Branch sponsors a day of training for members annually. This day of training is free for CCHS members.
The days training is aimed at all members of the CCHS and prospective members where knowledge and experience is freely shared amongst members.
Over the last few years this event has been held at differing locations
throughout Queensland.
Venues have included Caboolture Showgrounds and Kalbar Showgrounds
Some topics included in these training days have been:-
· Horse Nutrition
· Farrier and Hoof care
· Ring Bone and Side Bone
· Veterinary care of horse
· Horse Training (float loading)
· Pairs Driving training gig
· Horse presentation for the show ring
This years training day (2007) was held at Kalbar Showgrounds and we were
fortunate to have the following aspects of heavy horsemanship covered throughout
the day
· Long reigning, log snigging, slide driving, pairs and threesome
driving
· Harnessing and hitching of horses, correct fitting of horse gear
· Obstacle course for long reigning
· Show Ring protocol
· Horse presentation - platting mane and tail as well as presentation
of foot
· Multiple hitch and vehicle driving demonstrations
· Hoof care, hot shoeing and general Farrier services
· Grass cutting methods to feed horses in drought

Horses are available to be used however members are encouraged to bring
their own horses as well.
This years event saw over thirty members participate in activities to improve
their knowledge and experience with Clydesdales.
Future events will be informative and educational as well.
The Training day steering committee works diligently with members to ensure topics are of interest and meet the needs of the members.
